Welding Rotators - Self Aligning
SIECC design of Self Aligning Rotators provide an economical and practical answer to cylindrical vessel rotating and handling problems. The unique design permits the rollers to align themselves to the workpiece without any manual pre-adjustment whatsoever and irrespective of ovality or irregularity. The vessel remains central to the frame irrespective of diameter, and frequent adjustment of the welding head becomes unnecessary.

CREEP
The endwise movement commonly known as 'creep' is often encountered during the rotation of cylindrical vessels on rotators, this is a time waster in automatic welding installations.
CAUSE
During circumferential welding the slight irregularities in the vessel profile tends to cause 'creep' and the operator must give constant attention to the adjustment of his welding head or vessel to continue welding along the correct line.
CURE
SIECC 'anti creep' mechanism incorporated into the idler locates the ends of the roller shafts in slide blocks which can be moved independently, either manually or motorised. The rollers are forced to take a position where one side is raised and the other side lowered relative to the neutral axis. The resultant twisting movement sets up an opposing longitudal force to the direction in which the vessel is attempting to creep.
